Activating young voters of color in California

Leveraging young voices to activate young people

2020 saw young people, especially young people of color, trending less likely to turn out to vote.

The League of Women Voters of California (LWVC) tackled this by working with Mixte to create the #VotingMovesCA campaign — partnering with influencers on TikTok and Snapchat to share voting resources and encourage young people to vote in the 2020 General Election.

Activation, movement, change

The campaign branding steps away from LWVC’s brand to serve as a distinct campaign that resonates with a younger audience. The campaign logo uses an arrow, bold typography, and electric, contrasting colors to convey a sense of movement, urgency, and youthfulness.

Putting personality in voting

Fun, Gen Z inspired phrases are turned into stickers to act as graphic elements throughout the campaign — playing off of the “I Voted” stickers.
