A rise in anti-Asian hate and violence

When the COVID-19 pandemic saw a spike in racism and violence against Asian and Pacific Islanders (API), fear grew across the community. From harmful narratives regarding the virus to the horrific Atlanta spa shootings, our community was sent a clear message: we don’t belong.

In June 2021, Mixte launched the We All Belong campaign to uplift the API community.

Declaring belonging

Led by the API staff members on the team, the initiative sold merch such as stickers, t-shirts, and hoodies to raise funds in support of the San Diego API Coalition. The feature artwork uses illustrations of hands coming together to hold up a globe and shares the simple message that we do belong.
